Thank you for your welcome. I'm one of those newer members who has
been lurking in the shadows, so here's my Dooley:

Martin Michael Dooley
b.abt. 1824 King's Co., Ireland
immigrated abt.1847 to New York
married 1st; abt.1854 Poughkeepsie, NY
moved to Town Lyndon, Sheboygan Co., Wisconsin in abt.1854
1st wife unk. died at Lyndon in 1857
married 2nd 1858 at Sheboygan, Wis. to Julia Quinn
lived at Town Plymouth, Sheboygan Co., Wis. she died 1861
married 3rd 1862 at Sheboygan, Wis. to Winifred Guinning
lived at Town Mitchell, Sheboygan Co., Wis.
died Jan.5, 1902, Town Mitchell, Sheboygan Co., Wis.

Martin Michael Dooley's children were:
John b.1860, Martin M. Jr. b.1861, Thomas b.1863 d.1864,
Edward b.1866, William b.1872

Martin M. Jr. was the only son to have heirs.

I'm looking for the impossible; brothers, sisters, parents,
birthplace and date for Martin Michael Dooley, anything.

I see that most of your list's Dooleys are in the South so I'm not
sure that I'm in the right place. Is there anyone who has Dooleys from
the Northern States? Any from Ireland in the mid-1800s? From King's
Co., Ireland?

I am searching for information on my gggrandparents immegrated from Ireland to Ontario circa 1865. My ggrandfathew Mathew, b.1870 in Ontario married my ggrandmother Victoria nee Delona in Wallaceburg November 13, 1898 with a James Dowling (brother?) as a witness. Victoria's mother Sophia was from Ontario possibly Wallaceburg and married to Francis Delona of Chesterfield Twp, Macomb County Michigan.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I include the Mitchell and Bibb reference here because these families, along with the Griffins and Stovalls, helped each other in many land transactions and lived near each other. Elizth. Mitchell was probably the widow of Thomas Mitchell. She, like George Dooley, had a good deal of land-probably due to Rev. War service land grants. Thomas was dead by 1788 -- on April 4, 1788 a bond of 350 pounds was administered by Elizabeth Mitchell and secured by George Dooly. This Mitchell family might be the source of the "Mitchell" name among the Dooly family.
Where did the Mitchells come from before arriving in Wilkes Co.?

An example of the family connections; "Early Georgia Wills and Settlements of Estates - Wilkes Co" has an abstract of the will of Owen Griffin, Jr., dated Aug. 5, 1789; proved April 3, 1790; To wife Ann all estate during her widowhood for her use and for my children. Exors: Josiah and Benjamin Stovall my brothers-in-law. Wit; Ephraim Rucker,
Richard Griffin.

This will abstract proves that Owen Griffin Jr. married Ann Stovall. I began to wonder who the Richard Griffin was..... and I think I found him in "Abbeville (SC) Marriages (1780-1879) Implied in Equity Records."

In this source there is an entry for "Griffin, Richard m. Amelia Sims (daughter of Nathan Sims; married about 1780-1785; her first marriage) (Griffin died about 1799 in Lincoln Co., Ga.) Dianah Dooly Griffin died in Lincoln Co., too. Perhaps she married a member of this Griffin
family. Does anyone have a firm death date for Dianah?

Just a couple ideas for thought!

Several years ago I visited Wallace State College in Hanceville, AL.
Robert Davis, head of the Genealogy Dept had once done some sort of paper
on Col. John Dooly. He had a box of papers there called the Dooly box
that he allowed people to rummage through at will. In that box were
numerous letters back and forth about what might be the connection of
these very individuals that we are now wondering about - the Mitchells
and the Doolys.

For what it's worth here are some excerpts from some of the letters.
Perhaps someone can make better sense out of them than I.

One letter stated; Here are the facts that we have. Colonel John Dooly
had a wife named Diana and children named John "Jack"(??), Thomas,
Susannah, and John Mitchell Dooly. A neighbor and close associate of
Col. John Dooly was Thomas Mitchell, who had been a Lieutenant in the
same company in the 3rd Georgia Continental Battalion as Dooly's brothers
Thomas and George Dooly. Mitchell and these Doolys were inseparable.
Col. John had two grandchildren named Diana M. and Mary M. Bond. We have
never found absolute proof of what the M. stood for.

The enclosed documented materials will show that since I corresponded
with Mr. __, we have learned that the above Thomas Mitchell was married
to Elizabeth Dooly, sister of Col. John, George, Thomas, and probably a
William and a Robert Dooly. After Thomas Mitchell died in 1789 in Wilkes
County GA (later Lincoln Co., GA), his widow, Elizabeth Dooly Mitchell,
married Thomas Bibb and with Col. George Dooly they all moved to Kentucky
around 1792. These matters are a bit further confused by the fact that
this Thomas Mitchell had a son named John Dooly Mitchell while in 1805
ANOTHER Thomas Mitchell died who ALSO had a son named John Dooly
Mitchell, whose attorney by the way was John Mitchell Dooly, son of Col.
John Dooly.

All of the above we have proven. Now some speculation comes in. I am
convinced that Col. John Dooly was married to Diana MITCHELL, whom I
speculate was the niece of the Thomas Mitchell who died in 1789 and the
sister of the Thomas Mitchell who died in 1805. I also believe that
Diana was the daughter of Robert and Tanner Mitchell of Abbeville, SC.
The enclosed goes into more detail. Diana is not mentioned in Tanner
Mitchell's will nor are her Dooly children. However, Tanner Mitchell
does mention a grandson named James Griffin. Diana Dooly married
Randolph (Randal) Griffin after the Revolution. (Col. John Dooly was
murdered by Loyalists in the late 1780's). We can prove Diana's marriage
to Griffin."

NOTE; None of the enclosures were with this letter at the time I found
it.
