I am searching for information on my gggrandparents immegrated from Ireland to Ontario circa 1865. My ggrandfathew Mathew, b.1870 in Ontario married my ggrandmother Victoria nee Delona in Wallaceburg November 13, 1898 with a James Dowling (brother?) as a witness. Victoria's mother Sophia was from Ontario possibly Wallaceburg and married to Francis Delona of Chesterfield Twp, Macomb County Michigan.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am a descendant of the couple mentioned in the subject line. We are having a BURNETT reunion in Malvern, AR on June 6, 1998 for descendants of this couple and would appreciate any input anyone has on the ancestors of Elizabeth DOWLING BURNETT. Our records show that she came to AR during the late 1850's or early 1860's although we think we have located her in the 1860 Desha County, AR census with a father named John. We have her date of birth as August 30, 1849 in IL and her death as 16 July 1916 in AR.
We have been looking for a copy of the book, "A Dowling Family of the South by R. A. Dowling", and can not find it in AR. Do you know where we might purchase a copy of this book? Please e-mail me and let me know so I can get a copy of it.

I live in Brisbane,Queensland, Australia. My g/g/g/grandfather was William Dowling born ca 1808 Bristol, (then, now Avon) Somerset, England; father John, mother Mary Buckley. He was transported for desertion/striking an officer 1835 to NSW Australia. As a convict there are detailed personal descriptions and records of his Ticket of Leave/Certificate of Freedom etc.
There are many descendants of his in Queensland but we have been unable to find a birth/baptismal record.
It's a long shot, but can anybody discern a link?

My Father's Paternal grandfther was named 'Jack' (John?) Dowling, and lived in Ulster County (Wawarsing/Ellenville area). My father's father, Jim (James) Dowling also lived in that area. Edward Charles DOWLING born in 1864 at Sandford son of John Dowling and Ellen O'Brien (Vic BDM index #11350)

Edward married Julia Greenham (Vic BDM #5362)
In 1885 they had a son George Frederick DOWLING (Vic BDM index #24826)
In 1887 another son Peter Edward born at Dartmoor, Victoria (Vic BDM index 27686)

In 1891 they had a daughter Minnie Mary born at Dartmoor (Vic BDM Reg 32280).

My grandfather's name was Joseph Dowling from NY, he died in 1942 or 1944, not sure of his birthdate, but I know he was relatively young when he died. My dad, James W. Dowling was born in 1935 in New York, dad passed away in 1995 and didn't have much information on family history. Don't know if there's any connection but any help you can give would be great.
