The Y chromosome is passed from father to son remaining mostly unaltered across generations, except for small traceable changes in DNA. By tracking these changes, we constructed a family tree of humankind where all male lineages trace back to a single common ancestor who lived hundreds of thousands of years ago. This human tree allows us to explore lineages through time and place and to uncover the modern history of your direct paternal surname line and the ancient history of our shared ancestors.
The F-F15527 Story: F-F15527's paternal line was formed when it branched off from the ancestor F-M89 and the rest of mankind around 46,000 BCE. This date is an estimate based on genetic information only. With a 95% probability, the ancestor F-M89 was born between the years 52,486 and 39,959 BCE. The most likely estimate is 46,021 BCE, rounded to 46,000 BCE. This estimate will likely change in the future as more people test and we improve the method.
The man who is the most recent common ancestor of this line is estimated to have been born around 43,000 BCE. This date is an estimate based on genetic information only. With a 95% probability, the most recent common ancestor of all members of haplogroup F-F15527 was born between the years 51,053 and 36,346 BCE. The most likely estimate is 43,116 BCE, rounded to 43,000 BCE. This estimate will likely change in the future as more people test and we improve the method.
He is the ancestor of at least 4 descendant lineages known as F-FT142000, F-F14885, F-Z40734, & F-SK1085. Descendant lineages are identified as people test their Y-DNA with the Big Y test.
There are 84 DNA tested descendants, and they specified that their earliest known origins are from:
Vietnam,
Thailand,
China, and
3 other countries.
This information is self-reported by FamilyTreeDNA participants. It represents the earliest known countries of origin on their direct paternal lines.

In human genetics, Haplogroup DE is a human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup. It is defined by the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) mutations, or UEPs, M1(YAP), M145(P205), M203, P144, P153, P165, P167, P183.[2]
Haplogroup DE is often referred to by the most well-known unique event polymorphism (UEP) which defines it, the Y-chromosome Alu Polymorphism (YAP). The YAP mutation was caused when a strand of DNA called Alu, which copies itself, inserted a copy into the Y chromosome. A Y chromosome that has the YAP mutation is called YAP-positive (YAP+), and a Y chromosome that does not have the YAP mutation is labeled YAP-negative (YAP-).
Haplogroup DE is an estimated 65,000 years old.[1].

In human genetics, Haplogroup C is a Y-chromosome haplogroup, defined by UEPs M130/RPS4Y711, M216, P184, P255, and P260, which are all SNP mutations. It is a sibling clade of Haplogroup F, within the more ancient grouping of Haplogroup CF. Unlike some other human Y-DNA clades of a similar age depth, all clades of Haplogroup CF are non-African; that is, they do not occur exclusively in Africa, unlike A and B. Haplogroup C-M130 in particular appears to be one of the Y-DNA clades which dispersed especially early towards the east; its phylogeographic distribution supports a single coastal Out-of-Africa route by way of the Indian subcontinent, which eventually led to the early settlement of modern humans in mainland Southeast Asia.[1].

In human genetics, Haplogroup NO (M214) is a human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup. Haplogroup NO is a descendant branch of the greater Haplogroup MNOPS (also known as K(xLT)) and a phylogenetic sibling of Haplogroup M, Haplogroup P, and Haplogroup S.
The M214 mutation that defines Haplogroup NO occurred in a gamete of a man who belonged to Haplogroup K(xLT) and who probably lived somewhere in Asia east of the Aral Sea about 30,000 to 40,000 years ago. This man has become the direct patrilineal ancestor of a very large percentage of present-day humans, as he is the forefather of both Haplogroup N and Haplogroup O, which together are overwhelmingly dominant in most populations of North and East Eurasia.

In human population genetics, Y-Chromosome haplogroups define the major lineages of direct paternal (male) lines back to a shared common ancestor in Africa. Haplogroup S-M230 is a Southeast Asian and Melanesian branch.
Origin
Haplogroup S-M230 is commonly found among populations of the highlands of Papua New Guinea (Kayser 2003). It is also found at lower frequencies in adjacent parts of Indonesia and Melanesia.[citation needed]
One study has reported finding haplogroup S-M230 in 52% (16/31) of a sample from the Papua New Guinea highlands, 21% (7/34) of a sample from the Moluccas, 16% (5/31) of a sample from the Papua New Guinea coast, 12.5% (2/16) of a sample of Tolai from New Britain, 10% (3/31) of a sample from Nusa Tenggara, and 2% (2/89) of a sample from the West New Guinea lowlands/coast (Kayser 2003 and Cox 2006).
