RUTH O'BERRY DOWLING

Ruth O'Berry Dowling, age 93, died January 8, 2008 at Sandalwood Nursing Home in Daytona Beach.

Born in Gainesville, Mrs. Dowling moved to this area 30 years ago from Tennessee. A home-maker, she was a former Smyrna Yacht Club member. Mrs. Dowling loved her cats and enjoyed gardening and reading.

She is survived by a daughter Evelyn and husband John Atkins of New Smyrna Beach, a sister, Elizabeth O'Berry Nielsen, a grandchild, Melissa Atkins of Altamonte Springs.

Mrs. Dowling was preceded in death by her husband Ned Jefferson Dowling and two grandsons, Trey and Jeffrey Atkins.

Burial was at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery.

Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation.

A D DOWLING DIES IN ELLENTON CRASH

Fairfax, July 18 - A D Dowling of Fairfax was instantly killed at 6 o'clock this afternoon when his car went out of control and plunged down a 15 foot embankment near Ellenton. He was alone at the time of the accident.

Mr Dowling was connected with the C and WC and Seaboard Air Line railroads for nearly 30 years. At the time of his death he was manager of the Fairfax branch of the Coastal Products company of Charleston.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs Edith Barker Dowling; three sons, Wilbur Dowling of Columbia and Frank Dowling and Archie Dowling of Fairfax; three brothers, J C Dowling, O P Dowling and W H Dowling of Brunson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5:30 Monday afternoon at Fairfax cemetery.

The State, July 19, 1937.
