Citation Text: (also called the Inter-Allied Victory Medal) is a United Kingdom and British Empire First World War campaign medal.

The design and ribbon was also adopted by Belgium, Brazil, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Romania, Siam, Union of South Africa and the USA in accordance with the decision of the Inter-Allied Peace Conference at Versailles (a 'Winged Victory). A particular form of this historic Greek monument was chosen by each nation, except the nations in the Far East who issued the medal but with a different design. The dates of the war were in every case 1914 to 1918, except that of the British Empire, which gave the dates as illustrated (1914 to 1919).

The medal was issued to all those who received the 1914 Star or the 1914–15 Star, and to most of those who were awarded the British War Medal - it was not awarded singly. These three medals were sometimes irreverently referred to as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.

Obituary:- Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from Brunson cemetery for John C Dowling, Sr of Brunson, prominent Hampton county farmer and business ma. The services, directed by Buford Masonic Lodge 27, will be conducted by Col James T Risher, State grand master, assisted by the Rev B H Covington of Hampton.

Mr Dowling died at 8 o'clock yesterday morning after an illness of several days.

For the past 16 years he had been Hampton County Chairman of the Agriculture Adjustment administration.

Mr Dowling, 74, member of one of Hampton County's best known families, was a leading farmer for years and had served on numerous agricultural committees in an advisory capacity. He served as magistrate of Peoples township for 25 years. He was a Shriner and was a past grand-master of Masons and was a member of the Brunson Methodist Church.

He was a son of the late Oliver Perry Dowling ad Henrietta Googe Dowling.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs Lillie Cleland Dowling; four daughters, Mrs Gary Harrison and Mrs W S Ware of Brunson, Mrs W R Ott of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Miss Beulah Dowling, Columbia; three sons, C E Dowling of Dillon, J H Dowling of Clio, and John C Dowling, Jr of Brunson; a brother, O P Dowling, Sr, of Brunson, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Obituary:- Fairfax - Mrs Mary Esther Sullivan Dowling, 77, widow of Ben W Dowling, died Friday in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Sunday in Brunson Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fairfax Cemetery.

She was born in Hampton County, daughter of the late Jefferson D And Alice Pardue Sullivan.

Surviving are five sons, Jack Dowling of Sarasota, Fla, Henry Dowling of Goldsboro, NC, Oliver Dowling of Orlando, Fla, Wilson Dowling of Hancock, MD, and Julian P Dowling of Beaufort; a brother, W T Sullivan of Belvedere, a sister, Mrs Annie Sullivan Harriott of Brunson, 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Peeples Holland Funeral Home is in charge.
