Find a Grave Obituary:- Son of William Martin Dowling and Mary Kathleen Taylor. Husband of Patricia Lee Lanway. Robert "Bob" Joseph DOWLING Robert Joseph Dowling, 81, passed on Nov. 18, 2009, in Port Townsend, WA. Born in Seattle to an Irish Catholic family. His late parents William Martin Dowling and Mary Kathleen (Taylor) Dowling raised their seven children in Seattle attending St. Edwards church, later making their home in Kent. At age 16, Bob met the love of his life, Patricia Lee Lanway, they married and raised their six children making their home in Kent. Bob did everything from delivering telegrams on his bicycle to driving a logging truck leading towards a career that would last a lifetime in the glass industry. As the owner of Kent and Dowling Commercial Glass, he was known for his strong work ethic and integrity and took pride in caring for his community and employees. Giving back to his community Bob was a member of Elks, Rotary, Knights of Columbus, Lions, Washington Glass Association and the Kent Historical Society. Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, doing projects and traveling with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Anthony Church in Kent and St. Mary Star of the Sea in Port Townsend. Bob "was always there to lend a hand, tell a joke, and leave you with a smile, "He held dear the precious moments with friends and family and always appreciated the support and love extended to his family." Later retiring to Port Townsend, WA and wintering in Apache Junction, AZ, Bob and Pat shared their love for more than 64 years. In his final days, Bob was surrounded by the love of all of his family. He is survived by his wife, Pat; sons Bob Dowling (Lynn) of Marrowstone Island, and Jamie Dowling (Tori) of Burlington.; daughters Suzie Dowling of Port Townsend, Jana Harris (Glenn) of Port Ludlow, and Kim Hopkins (Tim) of Mill Creek, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters Mardelle Stafford of Kent and Kathleen George of Ashford. Preceding him in death was his son Gregory Sean Dowling, brothers Les Dowling and Bill Dowling, and sisters Phyllis Sears and Doris Madison. Funeral services take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 at St. Anthony's Chapel in Kent officiated by Father Vincent Pastro. Memorial to follow at the church hall. St. Anthony's is located 310 Third Ave S. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association , (alz.org) and Hospice.
