GREEN Helen 'Sue' Green stepped into the arms of her Savior with her Girls by her side Sunday, March 6, 2016 at her residence in Taylor, Florida. Sue was born December 22, 1934 in Taylor, Florida to Jack and Lalia Crews Dowling. Sue was born, raised, and lived in Baker County for her entire 81 years. She was truly the Proverbs 31 Woman! She took great pride in honoring and loving her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Frank. She taught her family by example how to love deeply and to always put others first. Her greatest joy was making sure her family had all their needs met. When her girls were home, she could be found at the sewing machine at 2 am completing a school outfit, a bathing suit, a prom dress, a costume for a play, and thousands and thousands of hair bows. Her children (and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren) rise up and call her blessed. Sue loved her Lord and His people, and served faithfully in her beloved church, Glen Baptist. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Horace, Morris, and Melvin Dowling. Sue is survived by her loving daughters and their spouses, Phyllis (Claudell) Rhoden, Susan (Earl) Knabb, Jr., and Sarah (Jake) Card; grandchildren, Chandler (Julia) Rhoden, Tiffany (Kenneth) Vaughn, Amanda (Jeremy) Hodges, Betsey (Joshua) Woods, Maggie (Wyatt) Vickery, Trae (Amy) Knabb, Maise Martin (Phillip), Brittany (Michael) Bell, and Joshua Card; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Kelton, Kannyn, Walker, Owen, Katherine, Caroline, Layla, Landri, Anabelle, Paisley, Judson, Fischer, Asher, and Crosby; She is also survived by her confidant, right hand and sister-in-law Mattie Dowling; numerous nieces and nephews In-laws; cousins; and many dear friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 11:00-1:30 pm and the funeral services beginning afterwards at 2:00 pm at Glen Baptist Church, Glen St. Mary, Florida. Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery in Taylor, Florida immediately following the church services. Services will be officiated by Dr. Randy Williams and Rev. Mark Woods. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Glen Baptist Church's building fund, The Master's Plan. The arrangements are under the care of V. Todd Ferreira Services, 250 N Lowder St., Macclenny, FL 32063. 904-259-5700.

Obituary:- Melvin was born, raised and lived his entire 86 years in Baker County. He dearly loved Baker County, especially his Community of Taylor. He served on the Board of County Commissioners for two terms and retired from service in 1994. He served as President of the Taylor Cemetery Association for the last 40 years. Melvin retired from the Northeast Florida State Hospital in 1989 after 30 years as an engineer in the boiler room.

His first love was his family and grandchildren. He dearly loved his land and cattle as a Forester and Cattleman on his farm in Taylor. Melvin was an avid deer hunter. He shared his love of hunting with many young men who looked to him as their mentor. He called them his young guns. He organized the Traveler's Rest Hunting Club in 1960 and has remained President until this day. One of his proudest accomplishments was being one of the founders of the Annual Baker County Senior Fish Fry. He had such a heart for widows and shut-ins. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Glen St. Mary, Florida.
