From the July 7, 2015, edition of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette:

Donald L. Niklaus Sr. passed away on July 3, 2015, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

Donald was born on Nov. 22, 1932, at Williamsport. He was the son of the late Frederick and Sarah (Cross) Niklaus.

Donald served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force where he was a veteran of the Korean War.

Donald was married to the late Suzanne D. (Dowling) Niklaus on Oct. 5, 1956. Together they shared 49 years of marriage.

Donald enjoyed his retirement and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by four children, James (Halle) Niklaus, Donald (Sandie Border) Niklaus, Kathryn (John) Notor and Karen (Brett) Reassner, all of Williamsport. He is also survived by one brother, Ronald; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Andrea, Thomas, Joseph, Laura, Marissa, Samantha, Connor and Ian; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donald was predeceased by his late parents and his wife Suzanne. He was also predeceased by five siblings, Doris, Norma, Joanne, Frederick and Sarah.

Funeral services for Donald L. Niklaus will be held Friday, July 10, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the South Williamsport United Methodist Church, 409 Main St., South Williamsport, with pastor Mark D. Brumbach officiating.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

The family kindly declines floral tributes and kindly requests that donations be made in memory of Donald L. Niklaus to the South Williamsport United Methodist Church, 409 Main St., South Williamsport, or Hope Lodge, 125 Lucy Ave., Hummelstown, PA 17036.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, PA 17702.

ROCHELLE E. VAN BUSKIRK
AGE 75 YEARS

Rochelle E. Van Buskirk, of Montoursville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of Francis and Olive Haines Hendershot.

Rochelle retired from GTE Sylvania in Montoursville. She worked after retirement at Keystone Staffing and has done numerous caterings throughout her retirement with Springman’s Country Store.

She was a woman of strong faith and a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville, where she served on numerous committees and loved serving at Faith Cafe. Her passion was for hospitality, especially through her love of cooking for others. She was also a member of ABWA, where she served as president and was awarded woman of the year.

Rochelle was fondly known as Gam by many. Her greatest love was her family, especially spending time with them out by her pool.

Surviving is her husband, John H. Van Buskirk, whom she married July 6, 1987; her children, Pamela A. (Paul) Hartsock, of Montoursville and James Dowling, of Muncy; sister, Connie Hendershot, of South Williamsport; grandchildren, Kimberly (Corey) Hunter, of Sinking Spring, Melissa (Dr. Joshua) Stutzman, of Hughesville, Syd Dowling, of Williamsport and Kelsey Dowling, of Montoursville.

She is also survived by her 6 great-grandchildren and 4 stepchildren,

She was predeceased by her parents; son, Jeffrey Dowling and her brothers, William and Francis Hendershot.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at Faith United Methodist Church, 700 Fairview Drive, Montoursville, with Pastor Rusty Wolfinger officiating.
Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery.

JOHN H. VAN BUSKIRK JR.
AGE 86 YEARS
UNITED STATES AIR FORCE VETERAN

John H. “Bussy” Van Buskirk Jr., of Hughesville, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at The Gatehouse. He was a son of the late John Harvey Sr. and Ruth Eleanor (Fenstamaker) Van Buskirk.

John was a 1950 graduate of Hughesville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and with the Army Reserves, retiring in 1991. John had worked at the former Sprout-Waldron’s, Muncy, a member of their Quarter Century Club, and at Central Equipment, retiring in 2017. He was a member of Muncy Masonic Lodge No. 299 F&AM and the Scottish Rite. In addition, John belonged to the American Legion, the Duboistown VFW and the Picture Rocks Fire Department. He served 10 years on the East Lycoming School Board. John was a former Cub Scout Pack Leader in Picture Rocks. He enjoyed bingo, fishing and hunting, belonging to the Little Gap Hunting Club where he served as president for over 40 years.

John loved sports. In the Air Force, he played fastpitch softball, basketball and volleyball while stationed in Korea and played fastpitch softball and baseball while at Eglin Air Force Base. He played fastpitch softball while working at Sprout-Waldrons where they were league champions 14 years in a row. John also played baseball in local adult leagues for the Picture Rocks Rockets, Hughesville Travelers and the Muncy town team. He umpired for the North Branch Baseball League. John coached little league teams, Grange & Montys, and the Picture Rocks Rockets in the intermediate league.

He is survived by two daughters, Ruth (Woody) Fry, of Hughesville, and Mary (Chris) Albano, of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sons, Mark (Michele) Van Buskirk, of Gainesville, Ga., and John F. (Cindy) Van Buskirk, of Boonsboro, Md.; a sister, Shirley Van Buskirk, of Picture Rocks; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a stepdaughter, Pam (Paul) Hartsock, and a stepson, James Dowling. John was preceded in death by his wife, Rochelle Van Buskirk, and stepson, Jeffrey Dowling.

Funeral Services: Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church
658 Village Road, Pennsdale, with Rev. Kevin St. Martin officiating.
Interment: Picture Rocks Cemetery with graveside military honors.
