POCATELLO - BettyAnn Dowling Obray, age 80, of Pocatello, ID, passed away on August 30, 2011 at home, surrounded by family, due to Alzheimer's disease and other medical problems.

She was born November 30, 1930, to Edward F. Dowling and Thelma R. Bucher Dowling. She grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, during the Depression. As a young girl she worked at the Chief Theater in Pocatello and Pond's Lodge in Island Park.

Then she married Stan Fredericksen in 1948. They lived in Montpelier, ID, Ashton, ID, then moved to Alaska. The family lived in Juneau, Anchorage, and Fairbanks. Upon the death of Stan in 1958, she came home to Pocatello. She attended ISU and later worked as a medical receptionist.

In 1964, she married R. Kay Obray. She was the secretary for his business.

She went to grade school at Roosevelt, Franklin Junior High School, Pocatello High and ISU. She enjoyed playing pinochle with her sorority and crossword puzzles, dancing, socializing, family and church. She was also on a bowling league. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Lutheran Laymen's League and Grace Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan Fredericksen; daughter, Tereasa Ann Fredericksen; stepdaughter, Wendy Kay Gonsalves; stepson, Robert Obray; stepsister, Shannon Christensen; two nephews; father-in-law, Mose, and stepmother-in-law, Blanche Obray; stepfather-in-law, James, and mother-in-law, Oriole Lowe; and lots of other family members.

She is survived by her husband, Kay Obray; daughter, Susan Obray; son, Rick (Connie) Fredericksen, of Anchorage, AK; stepdaughter, Claudette (Frank) Almeida, of CA; grandson, Eddie Obray; stepgrandchildren: Cory Gray, of OR, Casey Gray, of CA, Josh and Gabby Almeida, both of CA; stepgreat-grandson, Jayden Gray, of CA; brother-in-law, Larry (Alice) Obray; sisters-in-law: Pat (Graydon) Burton and Martha (Jerry) Martin; brothers-in-law: Jack (Janet) Obray and Tom (Char) Obray; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Mountain View Cemetery on October 1, 12:30 p.m., 39 East, Row 21, Space 9.

Contributions in lieu of flowers, make donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of Alliance and Hospice for their incredibly kind care that they provided to BettyAnn and the family. Also, a special thanks to our daughter, Susan, for all the help and care of her mother, BettyAnn.
