Mrs. Patrick Dooly, for many years a well known and highly esteemed resident of this vicinity, but who of late years has made her home in Janesville, died at the family home in that city on Monday of this week. A number of relatives from this vicinity were in attendance at the funeral.

=================================
Note of Carol Hevey Melo; Mary Elizabeth Croke was born on March 19, 1853 in New York. She was the third child of nine children that Jeffrey Croke and Bridget Jenkins Croke had. Her parents migrated to Wisconsin at an unknown time. But due to the fact that her sister, Josephine, was born in New York in 1854 and brother, Edward, was born in Wisconsin in 1857, one would assume they came between 1854 and 1857. The Corke's settled in the Albany, Footville, Brodhead area. They were with other Crokes. The spelling of the families in the Croak settlement as it came to be know were such; Croke, Croak, Croake. Any of these spellings would pass as family memebers. After Mary married John Dooley, the rest of the 8 children migrated to Beloit, Kansas. We have knowledge of Mary visiting her family in Kansas by Mary Ellen Dooley Stack's telling her granddaughter CArol Hevey Melo of her trip as a baby to Kansas. As the story goes, Mary Ellen was still a nursing child and Mother Mary Elizabeth travelled alone with baby Mary Ellen to see her parents. This trip would have to have been somewhere after 1881 and before 1883 when the next baby was born. The Croke's did keep in touch with the Dooley's back in Wisconsin but there is not much that a person can research about them here in Wisconsin. Funeral card gives the dates of Jeffrey and Mary's death dates. It is presumed they were buried in Beloit, Kansas.
Mary Elizabeth Dooley mothered 12 children. She was an excellent mother. She died in Chicago, in April, 1925. She was buried in Janesville, WI at the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Date shown comes from Carol Melo; Betty Martin shows just "1852" as date of birth, which she assumes from the Federal Census of Albany Twp, Green Co., July 21, 1860 which records Mary, dau of Jeffrey and Bridget Croak, age 8, born in New York.
Funeral notice (source unknown but from notes of Carol Melo):
Mrs. Mary E. Dooley widow of John Dooley, died Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. W. Menne, Chicago, after a lingering illness. She is survived by nine children, John Dooley, Mrs. James Stack, and Mrs. Harry Townsend, Mrs. Catherine Bidwell, Mrs. J. J. Griffin, Mrs. F. W. Menne, Mrs. Peter Garry, Mrs. John Murphy, and Arthur Dooley. The body will arrive in Janesville at 6:45 Friday and will be taken to the home of her son John Dooley, 619 Benton AVe. The funeral will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Father Croke, Chicago, formerly of Denver, Colo., a relative of Mrs. Dooley, will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Janesville, WI.
