31 July 2016:- Total 56,120 including living. Interesting day looking for records and not finding, eventually drilling down on Scotland.  Scotland's People have lots of records but all are behind a pay to view firewall.  The indexes are often not quite enough to tip the decision into paying credits for a download - could this be deliberately tantalising to make money? If so, I am not sure it works because the credit system encourages me to avoid the site unless entirely stuck.  Anyway, in the end, a much firmer hypothesis is forming for Nicholas Dowling.

30 July 2016:- Total 56,116 including living. A fair amount of time spent trying to sort out my slow running computer because a large amount of website tabs had got into loops that were using my computer's memory.  Had to delete them... hopefully I can pick many of them up again.  Refurbished some DNA Haplogroup entries that had been renamed.  Started on a Nicholas Dowling.

29 July 2016:- Total 56,111 including living.  Another non-Dowling Darst family added as a result of a Y-DNA connection to a haplogroup inhabited by Dowlings.  A new correspondence has come in Ancestry.

28 July 2016:- Total 56,085 including living.  Some tidying today, of DNA haplogroups, png files that needed converting to jpg files which work better with my software.  Added some people and various sources.  Busy in the heat and also trimmed a hedge.

27 July 2016:- Total 56,075 including living. Added some DNA connected Morrisons... I am not sure where that will take me apart from Iowa!

26 July 2016:- Total 56,043 including living.  Sunday Triple Back Up.  A few more Cassin's and suspiciously a few Dowlings in the same location.  Trying out the new Family Tree Maker and had to do feedback.  We have another heat wave coming so I may stop working for a while.

25 July 2016:- Total 56,024 including living.  Added a non-Dowling Cassin family that shows as a close-ish match on DNA-Y 700.  Quite where Dowling's fit may become apparent in time but it suggests to me that a Dowling has been 'Misattributed' as a Cassin.  Probably never find out!

23 July 2016:- Total 56,006 including living.  Reviewing DNA haplogroups and added a good few to cover a correspondent who wishes the connection to the haplogroup to remain private, so the connection does not show.  The interesting factor is a huge distance to the Most Recent Shared Ancestor despite a shared surname... one of us has misattributed parentage or an unusual coincidence in the mix.

22 July 2016:- Total 55,988 including living.  A DNA query by email; installed update to Family Tree Maker software to test.  Mostly gardening at my son's house.  Cooler today but still too hot to work.

21 July 2016:- Total 55,988 including living. Some entries in the USA,  Have been somewhat unwell of late being quite unable to function to any significant extent in the extreme heat.  Quite stunned at how little family history I have done lately.

19 July 2016:- Total 55,980 including living. Sunday Triple Back Up. Extraordinarily hot here in UK, everything overheating including me.

6 July 2016:- Total 55,979 including living. Mostly sources for existing people in Illinois as I track back through my open tabs trying to close them,

2 July 2016:- Total 55,978 including living.  A few mixed entries in sweltering heat.  I have too many tabs in my browser it is slowing things down and as I try to go back I have lost track of why I kept them open...  old age creeping in!
