30 May 2026:- Total 55,784 including living. More on the Liverpool family. Now have yet another 'upgrade' problem. The programme I use to reduce the size of large images for the website was upgraded (a process that is supposed to make things better but inevitably with every bit of software messes something up). I may have to spend a morning on it tomorrow.
27 May 2026:- Total 55,778 including living. A Liverpool family with a Featured son who became a national newspaper cartoonist. Changed the 'Notable' category to 'Featured' for definition purposes as Notable implies that everyone else in not notable... which is, of course, not correct - a bit pedantic for some I am sure but I like it just right.
26 May 2026:- Total 55,766 including living. Some tidying of Source with some sorting of a particular South African family.
25 May 2026:- Total 55,746 including living. A few people added and then a merge of identical people reduced the numbers relating to a Thomas Barrow Dowling, war hero, with an elusive life story. Record high uncomfortable temperature today here in UK where global warming is having a recognisable unmistakable effect, unlike in the USA where it is, apparently, a hoax!
24 May 2026:- Total 55,745 including living. Sunday Triple Back Up. Sources for existing people in UK. Examining the medals and the records Francis Dowling did have a third medal, British War Medal, but somehow that has been separated which is a shame. He was also entitled to the 'Emblem' and I am not sure what that means so have some reading to do.
23 May 2026:- Total 55,745 including living. A few Kilkenny census and other sources, mostly for existing people. My Major Francis Dowling medals arrived in the post today.
22 May 2026:- Total 55,741 including living. Some Kilkenny births.
21 May 2026:- Total 55,732 including living. Purchased a setoff WW1 medals for Francis Thomas Dowling and started adding to his record. Busy shopping (it apparently has to be done).
20 May 2026:- Total 55,726 including living. Some sources for existing people in New York. Busy in London today visiting old friends... Lovely people to spend some time with but London itself has become very scruffy, less fumes though even in a busy area - the low-emission zone is obviously working as far as I can see, years ago I could see the air (or lack of it). Now London needs a big clean and tidy-up.
19 May 2026:- Total 55,724 including living. Spent a little time sorting a software issue where some files wouldn't load to the website. Fixed it... must avoid png files in the database.

17 May 2026:- Total 55,711 including living. Sunday Triple Back-up. A few Find a Grave entries and a census.
16 May 2026:- Total 55,694 including living. Waylaid by the garden again, a good day for cleaning the path. Added some Find a Grave entries.
15 May 2026:- Total 55,682 including living. Busy in garden today so only a couple of censuses. Back to a correspondent's thread tomorrow.

13 May 2026:- Total 55,677 including living. Added a New York family which came up for elimination purposes during previous hunt, added as I did not want to forget about such a large family from Ireland.
12 May 2026:- Total 55,662 including living. Mostly in garden but added some census entries for existing people and a baptism from Kildare. Also finally found deaths for a New York couple that had eluded me for years.
11 May 2026:- Total 55,659 including living. Added a Trade Directory entry for New York and, as I was including an image of the page, thought I would add all the other Dowling's on it... ended up adding over 70 people!
10 May 2026:- Total 55,583 including living. Sunday Triple Back Up. Ancestry message from a 92 year old descendant of a Louise Dowling so onto that one amidst gardening.
9 May 2026:- Total 55,573 including living. A few records, 'low-hanging fruit', while I find time amidst the gardening for some intense Irish hunting!
8 May 2026:- Total 55,565 including living. Some related non-Dowlings added while I trawl records looking for a specific baptism of a Patrick... The mother he was attributed to is unlikely as his father and that 'mother' were not married till long after Patrick's birth. While nowadays that could be an anticipated situation it was statistically quite unlikely in 1870's Ireland. Still working on it.
7 May 2026:- Total 55,553 including living. Another 1926 census for Clondarrig... then really trimming my hedges all day.
6 May 2026:- Total 55,552 including living. Tweaked an existing census, added a 1926 census for Clonboyne. More hunting and not finding... went shopping which always makes for a less productive day.
5 May 2026:- Total 55,552 including living. Added a grave pic and the more hunting and not finding... took a break and cleaned some of my patio.

3 May 2026:- Total 55,544 including living. Sunday Triple Back Up. A new correspondence in from someone who posted in 1998. Today's message allowed a good merge and a good number of sources to be added - Laois to UK.
2 May 2026:- Total 55,532 including living. Interesting puzzles on this Dowling associated Madden line with children in orphanages in 1910 but, apparently, with living parents... unless there are some misassumptions here, which is so easy with the name Mary, who could easily be another person than the mother.

30 April 2026:- Total 55,524 including living. Finally got a hook in this Madden line, it went through a lot of changes that occur between censuses in a way that makes it difficult to line up people, a lovely challenge.
