2026 January

31 January 2026:- Total 54,838 including living. A few Kildare entries from census and baptisms.  A few queries stacking up now and I am short of time at present.

29 January 2026:- Total 54,825 including living. Some births and a Whelan census to try and track the right Dowling connection.

28 January 2026:- Total 54,819 including living. Some births in Baltinglass, Wicklow.

27 January 2026:- Total 54,810 including living. A couple of marriages pertaining to the current mission - to work out how Dowlings and Whelans in a particular family in Dublin are connected.  Slow going as I have spend more time exercising to keep healthy.

26 January 2026:- Total 54,804 including living. Went down a Kildare rabbit hole and added some baptisms and a marriage... back on the correspondence target tomorrow.  It a One-Name Study hazard as, when one comes across a Dowling record, I tend to follow it.

25 January 2026:- Total 54,796 including living.  Sunday Double Back Up.  Added a couple of births in Kildare.  Yesterday I had put a 'Placeholder' father in for one Mary Dowling as I new from a census which family her father came from just not which of the ales in that family.  After a good while sifting through all the Mary Dowlings in an an area I believe I have found the correct one so the Placeholder gets 'merged' with a James Dowling already in the system and the totals drop by one person.  Merging is a particularly slow investigative process.

24 January 2026:- Total 54,797 including living.  Very busy but slipped in another Dublin census and death.  Not too well and feeling exceptionally tired and slow.

23 January 2026:- Total 54,795 including living. A few Dublin entries but busy with other things today so slow going on current correspondence.  A merge on a Whelan connected to Dowlings.

21 January 2026:- Total 54,790 including living.  Several sources added from Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow as well as a newspaper from Australia for a source I must have forgotten years ago.

20 January 2026:- Total 54,779 including living.  Two more pieces of correspondence in today requiring a lot of work.  Made a start on one and have added some people and lined-up a lot of sources to add over the week in Dublin and Kildare.  Another corres on Australia from the Guild which points out an error... I don't get many errors pointed-out at all but I really like these for a number of reasons.  Post-Christmas is a hugely busy time as people spend holiday time on the family and, maybe, had a DNA test as a present - anyway I have 11 correspondents in a queue!

19 January 2026:- Total 54,759 including living.  More Florida censuses.

18 January 2026:- Total 54,750 including living.  More Florida censuses.  Didn't upload this day's work as I ran out of time for such a long upload.

17 January 2026:- Total 54,739 including living.  Florida census records added for a Dowling Family of The South... the line already in the system but did add another generation of children.  Experiencing a lot of slowness on uploading to the Internet which may mean I change from daily updates to less frequently.

16 January 2026:- Total 54,720 including living.  Texas records added although the line followed there seems to come to an abrupt end.

14 January 2026:- Total 54,717 including living.  No replies from two correspondents, will file their e-mails and move on.  Some Texas census and other documents.

13 January 2026:- Total 54,712 including living.  Changed the website header banner to include the new Guild of One-Name Studies strapline "this website IS the One-Name Study".  That took me longer than I though it would as I had forgotten how to change it,

12 January 2026:- Total 54,712 including living.  A few Texas census entries.  Busy with personal correspondence.

11 January 2026:- Total 54,709 including living. Sunday Double Back Up.  Busy lately with none-genealogy.  Had some vague correspondence which, in turn, amounts to vague searching with not material result.

7 January 2026:- Total 54,707 including living. After a lot of hunting in Canada records I found a line likely to go through to correspondent although it has some anomalies I have to look into.

6 January 2026:- Total 54,695 including living. Some Canada censuses to try and make sense of a line.

4 January 2026:- Total 54,678 including living.  Sunday Double Back Up.  Some Athy and Ballyadams records but mostly looking-not-finding today.  Minus 4 this morning here in the UK... that should trigger some seeds to grow in the garden.

3 January 2026:- Total 54,672 including living. New correspondence in for Laois, it is piling up at the moment, nevertheless a review of some existing people in Ballyadams.

2 January 2026:- Total 54,670 including living. Some US some Irish records added following a Kenny line apparently connected to Dowlings.

1 January 2026:- Total 54,657 including living. Happy New Year, some Kildare and some New York entries to deal with correspondence.

31 December 2025:- Total 54,629 including living. Some more Kilcullen, Kildare work while actually doing some gardening !!! Yes, despite the cold it was sunny so I got out and trimmed back my standard roses and lavender (its a good time as they are dormant).
