The 1841 census returns were mostly destroyed in a fire at the Public Records Office Dublin during the Irish Civil War on 30 June 1922. Only fragments of the Ireland 1841 census survive for Antrim, Carlow, Cavan, Cork, Dubin, Fermanagh, Limerick, Longford, Mayo, Monaghan, Laois, Tyrone, Westmeath, Wicklow.
