Sad and Sudden Death
Mr Alexander Dunn Dowling, a grandson of the late Hon. John H Dunn, of Toronto, so well known by many of our older citizens, and nephew of the late celebrated Colonel Alexander Dunn, VC, died yesterday. He served in Her Majesty's navy, and received the medal for bravery from the French Government for saving the lives of four men in the China Seas. He also served in the Cape Mounted Rifles during the South African War. He had but recently come to this country to settle, but contracted a severe cold and died after a very short illness, much regretted by those who had the advantage of his short acquaintance.
