Is there anyone who knows anything about George Dowling who went to Chile from Australia in the C19 and died as Jorge Dowling Lord?
We know he had one son but there is a belief he had four children and that the boys served in the National Army of Chile.

Jorge Dowling Desmadryl wrote the book: Religión, chamanismo y mitolog¸a mapuches (Colección Imagen de Chile, Cormorán). He was a lover of the "Mapuches" life. "Mapuches" are the indians who lived in Chile before the Spanish arrived.

Jorge Dowling Desmadryl was a a surveyor and later a politician becoming a member of the Chilean Congress.

A lover of the mathematics, he discover a system to get the exact distances by using only the stars.

Born in Concepcion, on 11 August 1901; son of George A. Dowling and Petronilla Desmadril. He married in Temuco in 1929, with Rebecca Santa Maria Munoz. Three children were born from this marriage.

He studied at the University of Concepcion, was titled surveyor about 1925. He devoted himself to practice and was hired as a surveyor on the grounds of the Ministry of Lands and Settlement, interrupted only by his tenure as deputy.

At the sam time he studied mathematics, astronomy and investigated ethnic and indigenous cultures, especially when retiring from ministry to practice privately. He was the author of "Religion, Shamanism and the Mapuche mythology," 1971.

He was a member of the Socialist Party and Socialist Workers. He was elected deputy for the Twenty Departmental Grouping "Valdivia, La Union, Rio Bueno and Osorno" period from 1937 to 1941, he joined the Standing Committee of Industry and was its president.

He died in Santiago on 19 July 1979.
